  • cd’s and yesterdays tomorrow

My daugther just asked me, what I was holding in my hand. I answered “a CD” and added, without thinking, “This is a very old technology. Nobody really uses it anymore.

She is 2 and three quarters now, but when she will be old enough to understand what a CD is, it will have become todays Floppy Disk (gosh i am old…). When I was 10, the first pc I saw (an atari) used a tape deck as saving medium. I was told in the future, round disks (CD’s) will be the storage media.

That future (as so many others) has come and passed quickly.

When my daughter is old enough, I will still listen to vinyl (those round record things…) and shoot film (I hope!), but music will be on Hard disks, locally or somewhere in the sky (clouds?!) and glasses will make movies of every step we take (even though I doubt they will be from google).

Yesterdays tomorrow has passed us quickly.
